To support the strategic goals of the Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) Business Unit (BU) Successful global market access is fundamental to the achievement of Pfizer's commercial objectives in the evolving, complex pharmaceutical payer environment, which must begin in the pipeline. The Immunology and Inflammation (I&I) business unit within Pfizer has a robust pipeline of products within medical dermatology, rheumatology and gastroenterology.
Given the recent breakthrough designation (BTD) for the indication of Alopecia Areata (AA), the director will lead the development of strategies for AA for national payers as well as commercial ones.
This role is vital to ensure optimal evidence generation occurs in support of reimbursement and access needs across multiple assets, including those on an accelerated path. This role directly impacts the ability to achieve business objectives on a global basis by providing strategic guidance and robust evidence development relevant to achieve optimal global patient access by demonstrating the value of our products. Overall, the pipeline in I&I is committed to medical dermatology, rheumatology, and gastroenterology, and has attracted significant funding. At the moment there are numerous phase 2 trials running with the potential to initiate phase 3 pivotal programs short-term.
The HEOR Director will function with a One PHI mindset and will work in a closely aligned fashion with leadership and PHI colleagues to ensure there is a single and coordinated view on strategy and delivery for PHI to the I&I business. The HEOR Director will partner with Global Product Development, Commercial Development, Global Medical, and other cross-functional teams to develop and implement health outcomes research strategies to support assets globally. Within PHI, the HEOR director will collaborate with her/his counterpart in market access and with the Centers of Excellence such as PCOA and RWDnA.
HEOR takes a global business-wide perspective and must adopt a leadership position on strategic questions with respect to patient value, payer value and evidentiary needs for access and outcomes required of assets in development. The director must have a high degree of expertise and employ a patient and payer-centric mindset to work closely in an aligned fashion with various partner and stakeholder groups. This will ensure there is a single and coordinated view on strategy to provide timely delivery of PHI outputs to inform key business decisions. Lastly, the Director must be able to design, develop and implement an integrated approach to all aspects of the payer evidence generation strategy from early development through phase III and across geographies (such as US, EU, Asia) for medical dermatology, especially AA.
+ Partner with the early asset teams to deliver clear strategy, recommendations and insights relating to PROs, health economics and outcomes research.
+ Lead the development of HEOR strategy to support the value of assets in the I&I Medical Dermatology in close partnership with PHI colleagues
+ Incorporate humanistic and economic endpoints into clinical trials across all phases of product development to build comprehensive trial-based evidence in line with overall medical strategy for the assets and to ensure global reimbursement and access requirements.
+ Provide strategic input in the selection of relevant patient population and comparators within clinical trials to enable successful negotiations, reimbursement, and appropriate patient access with global payer and regulatory decision makers.
+ Development and validation of new Patient Reported Outcomes measures as appropriate for inclusion across clinical trials, registries, and prospective real world studies with the objective to improve labels.
+ Effectively collaborate within PHI to establish senior-level business partnership and communication.
+ Lead the execution of HEOR studies and projects (including Non-Interventional Studies, registries, etc.) in alignment with the global HEOR strategy and demonstrate the value proposition for assets in the I&I BU.
+ Identify opportunities to partner with I&I BU external customers to conduct HEOR projects in support of asset strategies
+ Lead the timely development of pre-launch deliverables including global value dossiers (GVDs), evidence blueprints, economic models, and innovative tools to successfully support global launch, reimbursement and access requirements in conjunction with the regions/countries.
+ Lead the coordination of input from local country/regional O&E teams on evidence needs and ensure that the input is appropriately incorporated to develop and integrated evidence strategy to support global market access needs at time of launch.
+ Develop real world evidence generation strategies and flawlessly execute studies (e.g., burden of illness studies, epidemiology studies, etc.).
+ Develop strategic partnerships and research collaborations with key external experts, healthcare policy makers, payers, and various academic and community settings to support asset strategies.
+ Collaborate with local health and value affiliates and enable local model adaptations and updates throughout the product life cycle.
+ Provide strategic guidance and content guidance in reimbursement (re)negotiations for Pfizer products.
+ Lead the development of appropriate data dissemination plans and communicate evidence generated via publications and conference presentations.
+ Partner with PHI members and cross-functional teams from early development to Phase III I&I assets; bring creative solutions to the team while employing cutting-edge methodologies and innovative ideas which could be scaled.
+ Work efficiently and collaboratively in a highly matrixed environment
+ Execute projects as per Operating Plans or newly identified priorities and manage pipeline budget for those projects.
+ Minimum Masters degree (MSc, MPH) in health services research, public health, epidemiology, or health economics with a preferred Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, ScD) in health services research, public health, epidemiology, or health economics.
+ Minimum 8 years' experience in health outcomes and related fields, 5 of which are as part of global health economics and/or outcomes research teams in a pharmaceutical company.
+ Strong working knowledge of the technical and methodological aspects of registries and observational study design and implementation. Capable of independently managing complex registry and non-interventional study projects.
+ Strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis and interpretation) in clinical trials, epidemiology, or health services research is required
+ In depth understanding of Pharmacoeconomics and Health-related Quality of Life
+ Knowledge and experience in the I&I therapeutic area and/or the pipeline and development space is preferred
+ Experience with HTA organizations such as NICE, SMC, PBAC is desirable
+ Excellent interpersonal skills required: ability to understand and respond to multiple internal and external customers and to establish effective partnerships with the business
+ Excellent oral and written English communication skills required
